See How They Run by Tom Bale-Book Review

How far would you go to save your family?
In the dead of night, new parents Alice and Harry French are plunged into their worst nightmare when they wake to find masked men in their bedroom. Men ruthless enough to threaten their baby daughter, Evie.

This is no burglary gone wrong.
The intruders know who they’re looking for – a man called Edward Renshaw.
And they are prepared to kill to get to him.

When the men leave empty handed, little do Alice and Harry realise that their nightmare is just beginning. Is it a case of mistaken identity? Who is Renshaw? And what is he hiding?

One thing is clear – they already know too much.

Your home is a sacred place. It is your sanctuary where you feel safe and loved. It is your harbor. And what to do when someone destroys that?

Harry and Alice have a perfect home. Lovely house in a quiet neighborhood., perfect for raising their little baby girl. But then, one night, an intruder is in the house. Intruders.

The invaders in their home do unimaginable and horrible things to them. And for what? They are looking for some man Renshaw who supposedly lives there or hides. But Harry and Alice don't know such a person. Not even among their neighbors.

When the two psychopaths leave, they leave the family in fear. „Do not call the police! We know where you live, we will come back!“And they are scared, not for them, but for their little daughter. The intruders threatened to hurt their little baby.

What to do? Should they call the police? And who is that Renshaw?

Their home is not a safe place anymore.

Who would guess that the break in their home is only the beginning? And if they can't call the police, who can they trust? Who can help them? Renshaw, maybe? But who is Renshaw, after all?

And the police shows up next day. But they didn't call them. What is going on?

Wow, this story is a real rollercoaster! A fast-pacing thriller that made the pages turn by themselves till the last one. The author created a story full of action and so many turn-overs. The opening scene is creepy enough. Most of the characters are with several faces, you never know who to trust. It is my first book from this author, but definitely, won't be the last. I loved the tension to the very last page, the adrenaline level was too high in the book and also in my blood. I loved Harry and Alice, I loved the way they coped with every situation. They did the running, running like hell.

What I found not developed best, was Renshaw story. Some of the parts of the story were plausible, some seemed not realistic at all, like a Hollywood movie. I've found some scenes and some characters too much for the whole story, I felt just them like a distraction. But that is my opinion.

What to say more? I loved some parts of the book, and some were like: „Really?“ But after all, See How They Run is a story that should be read by everyone who wants a sleepless night spent with a book.

My opinion: 4 / 5.
